Alex is a sports massage therapist with diplomas in spinal manipulation, soft tissue release, muscle testing and personal training.
Why am I a massage therapist?
I enjoy it, it feels like I’m performing a martial art, carving up and softening the muscle. I’ve been doing it for 10 years and I truly enjoy it.
I really do it for myself, every-body is unique and requires an individual approach, my favourite is an hours full body deep tissue as I can use all my techniques and I am in a variety of positions.
There are examples of massage in Pakistan called “Malesh” where the practitioner goes into a sort of ecstatic trance whilst massaging, it looks a bit nuts but I can get into a similar kind of flow from time to time that I find very enjoyable.
Each massage also contains a bit of exploration- I will unconsciously find myself doing a new technique or something I haven't done something before, most of the time I won't use it again, but sometimes it's golden.
I have a Yin and a Yang massage. A Yin massage is slow and fluid and continuous whereas a Yang massage is rougher, bumpier and sharper. In the majority of massages these two styles interflow and are determined by my assumption of the clients preferences.
