Back Pain
Back pain presents in 3 different forms:
intervertabral disk - whereby pressure from the upper body compresses the disk and can cause a herniation of the nucleus pulposa through the annulus fibrosis which puts pressure on the nerves. A common cause of this is slouching and a posterior pelvic tilt.
Facet Syndrome - where the posterior facets of the vertebrae become irritated through shear and torsion forces. A small bursae on the facet can become inflamed and cause inflammation local to the nerves that exit the foramen. This is usually found with those that have a lumbar lordosis and is the commonest form of back pain.
Adhesions along the neural pathways - This is the hardest form of back pain to treat and diagnose and is usually only discovered in cadavers. It is a consequence of a previous disk herniation so a history of back pain usually creates more back pain in the future.
The best remedy for back pain is a sports massage.
